Every year hundreds of young man from all over the world merge in the small town of Aubagne, on the southcoast of France. Desperate to dodge their past, or sometimes just to seek some adventure, they enlist with the Foreign Legion. The Legion itself tries to uphold it's mysterious character by giving very limited acces to (photo-)journalists. Here you can see some images from the recruting and early training stages, shot in 1996.
